Everett Public Library
About the project:
This award-winning library renovation project demonstrates what can happen when a community treasure is liberated from insensitive additions.
The expansion involved removing a 1960’s addition and replacing it with an addition more sensitive to the original architecture. A grand two story barrel-vaulted reading room is now the hub of visual and functional activity. The original library, built in 1936, was faithfully restored to the original finishes, furnishings, and artifacts. New and existing murals, sculptures, paintings, art glass, furniture, details, and materials all support the historically significant design intent of the building.
