Bellingham School District Seismic Upgrades
About the project:
The Bellingham School District seismic upgrades, on which DYKEMAN is a consultant to Reid Middleton, are now roughly 80% complete. DYKEMAN offered architectural sensitivity to a project that involved mostly technical engineering as the primary goal. We also advised the Owner regarding code issues and phasing of construction to maintain occupancy during construction. Three elementary schools have been completed as of January, 2010. Work at Whatcom Middle School was almost done when the fire broke out in early November, 2009. Our design involvement has been transformed into specialized assessment of the damage for insurance reimbursement and general planning for the future. The central administrative building for the District, known as the Roeder building, will begin design sometime in 2010.
