New Century Village

  • Client: Housing Hope
  • Location: Everett, Washington

About the project:

New Century Village is Housing Hope’s newest affordable housing development with 44 transitional apartments, with 21 of those apartments created for homeless teen and young mothers. The remaining units are designated to low-income households with children recovering from homelessness.

Housing Hope’s New Century Village gave us the opportunity to turn five separated buildings into one community. We demolished a single-family house and a four-plex and built two new multi-family buildings that encompassed a new centralized playground and provided a new sports court for the village as well. All the buildings are now accessed off the same driveway and interior site pedestrian circulation routes have been enhanced. The two new buildings also foster community as they provide out door gathering spaces for residents on decks and porches that face the central playground. One of the new buildings provides community rooms five times larger then the existing community room that will enable Housing Hope to offer more educational classes and other services for their tenants.

About Housing Hope:
Homeless and low-income families in Snohomish County have turned to Housing Hope since 1987 for successful solutions to desperate situations.  With safe, affordable housing opportunities and access to a wide range of effective programs, families are empowered to make lasting changes in their lives.  As struggling families regain hope, the entire community benefits.
