Everett Library / Civic Center
About the project:
The City of Everett requested a feasibility study and Master Plan for the city block housing the existing Everett Main Library. The initial concept involved development of a Community Center and Museum in conjunction with the redevelopment of the Main Library that had been funded by a recent bond issue.
These ideas were presented to the Community and City Council at several public forums over the process of one year. The City Council and Mayor accepted the design concept of developing a 1200-seat auditorium, a 250-seat black box, a galleria with meeting rooms, a historical museum, a parking garage and the expansion of the Main Library. This allowed us to proceed with the design of the Main Library and completion of the development of the north end of the block. Following the completion of the Everett Main Library, the full development of this site lost out to a competing commercial office project that included the design/build construction of a 500-seat theater for the City.
