This flagship store is located in the vibrant, industrial SODO neighborhood, home to artisans, small manufacturers, and two large sports stadiums. The site reflects the energy and vitality that the client brings to their own business.

Sustainability, quality, and responsibility were all priorities of the client. The design concept focused on providing a “transparent” second floor set back. DYKEMAN juxtaposed the second floor plan over the first floor to maintain the familiar shape of Krispy Kreme, creating an outdoor deck facing north and west for the corporate offices, and a covered drive-through on the east elevation. This open, exposed concept was in keeping with the spirit and character of the neighborhood, but of materials that are identified as a “Krispy Kreme” building.

The design of the ICON office interiors concentrated on maintaining the open transparency of the exterior by creating a large open interior space with exposed structure and mechanical systems, while hinting at a traditional factory bakery with maple floors and thick maple trim--milled by a local Darrington saw mill operator. The second floor office incorporates daylight harvesting and natural ventilation to improve the work environment for employees.
