Dykeman

Camano Island Residence

This large private residence on the Camano Island waterfront was designed to accommodate a large extended family for year-round gatherings. Dykeman began with architectural design, and moved into interior services as the project neared the construction phase.

We worked closely with the client throughout the design process, listening to all of the wants and needs for their family beach home. We put together a plan that would accommodate a multi-generational family by providing private and public spaces for all family members, from little ones to seniors.

Design elements in this home were chosen carefully to make it an ideal place for entertaining: a two-story stone fireplace and lofty, open living areas invite family members to gather together, and large stainless commercial appliances were chosen to accommodate cooking for a group. Thoughtful consideration was made for the utilitarian elements of the home, as well: stone and wood floors were selected for durability and easy maintenance, and convenient laundry rooms and a shower/mud room allow people to quickly wash sand and salt off. An elevator was also incorporated to accommodate transitioning one floor to the other as needed. Plenty of southern and western light floods in through windows and doors with the beautiful Camano Island beach just steps away.  Overall, this comfortable and aesthetically pleasing home allows for enjoyment of both indoor and outdoor activities, all year round.
