Katie Austin
Design Staff
“Designing for me is like solving a puzzle. I am passionate about the challenges it brings and always push myself to find the cleanest solution.”
Growing up in Lexington, Kentucky, Katie knew from a young age she wanted to be a designer in the Pacific Northwest. A few days after graduating with a degree in architecture from the University of Kentucky, Katie packed her bags and moved to Everett to fulfill that lifelong dream. A member of the design staff at Dykeman, Katie enjoys working on school projects that allow her to design spaces that inspire and help shape young minds. “I love that everyone is a part of the process at Dykeman. It allows me to pull inspiration from others’ projects and find new, creative approaches that embrace thinking out of the box for my own projects.”
For the last seven years Katie has worked on a multitude of different projects including residential banquet halls, K-12 schools, and banks. The variety of projects has given Katie the chance to gain confidence when taking on new tasks, and to also play the part of a mentor for new employees.
When not designing buildings, Katie loves anything to do with plants, being outside, and spending time with her husband and three stepchildren.
