Ruby Bridges Elementary School

The brand-new Ruby Bridges Elementary School in the Northshore School District is designed to accommodate 550 K-5 students in a 76,191-square-foot, 3-story elementary school building.

Location

Bothell, WA

Client

Northshore School District

The elementary school will include classrooms, an administrative office, library, gymnasium, cafeteria/commons, kitchen, and covered play area. Outdoor amenities will include a combined softball/elementary playfield, primary and elementary hard/soft outdoor play areas, and parking.

The site is located on Maltby Road between 43rd Avenue SE and Little Bear Creek in Bothell. The elementary school is intended to be part of a two-phase project which will include construction of a future middle school as an extension of the elementary school on the same site. At the point where the two schools adjoin, spaces have been designed to allow for flexibility as enrollment numbers fluctuate between grade levels.

Phase I will also include construction of a bus loop, a roundabout on Maltby Road, construction of the on-site portion of a new 49th Place SE, and right-of-way improvements on Maltby Road. In addition to the middle school, Phase II will also include completion of a football field, track, and tennis courts.

Site development and construction on Ruby Bridges Elementary began in spring of 2018, and is expected to reach completion in the spring of 2020, for a fall 2020 opening.
