Zach Ham
A4LE
Associate Principal
“I enjoy the process of developing strong relationships with the design team. I believe forming a cohesive group with a clear direction is critical to the overall success of the project. The thrill of team success versus individual success stimulates my everyday commitment to architecture.”
Growing up in a family of educators, Zach is passionate about how design supports education and how the civic nature of a school can inspire the communities they serve. Zach left home in the 7th grade to pursue his dreams of playing hockey and went on to play at the college and semi-professional levels. After obtaining his undergraduate degree from Bowling Green State University and a Master of Architecture from UW, Zach joined the Dykeman team in 2005.
As an associate principal at Dykeman, Zach Leads large-scale school project teams for several districts. “I’m passionate about the process. Architecture involves intricate thought and decision making from design all the way through construction. It requires collaboration, communication, trust and most importantly – meeting the owner’s expectations. A project can have over 15 players and our goal as the architect- is to ensure all players have the same goal in mind.”
When not designing, Zach can be found with his wife and two kids spending time outdoors hiking, camping, and biking. He also coaches his son’s hockey team, which requires travel to Canada frequently, as well as private hockey lessons.
